Job Description – CNA

Place of Employment: Different Hospital, Nursing Homes, other work sites as required by Empower Staffing LLC medical staffing management, and employee agreement.

Accountable to Empower Staffing LLC’s medical staffing Director, Administrator, Manager, Supervisor, or Nurse-in-Charge.

Job Summary: CNA is a front-line position acting as a representative for Empower Staffing LLC’s medical staffing and providing the services offered by the company.

Duties: The CNA duties are not limited to those listed as the position has a wide scope of duties at times dependent on the client and always under the auspices of the company. The following list of duties is a guideline of possible duties to be performed independently or as a group of duties in the course of working with the client.

Work Hours: This position may require various shifts at various times (including nights, and weekends, in one or more work sites.

A Certified Nursing Assistant’s Job Responsibilities:

  1. Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  2. Provides adjunct care by administering enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, Sitz and therapeutic baths; and applying restraints.
  3. Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight, testing urine, and recording intake and output information.
  4. Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to the nursing supervisor.
  5. Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  6. Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.
  7. Protects organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential.
  8. Serves and protects the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements; and JCAHO standards.
  9. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
  10. Enhances nursing department and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

CNA Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
  2. Knowledge of relevant nursing care
  3. Friendly and professional bedside manner
  4. Maintains current CPR certification
  5. Multi-tasking skills
  6. Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills
  7. Understands legal implications of patient care

Education and Experience Requirements:

  1. Certification with accredited training course through the State of California and current certification through the American Heart Association in Basic Life
  2. 1 year of nursing assistant experience
  3. Appropriate license

  1. The CNA will be required to maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their clients.
